My Philosophy

Welcome to The Golf Physio! With the site well underway,I am grateful and excited to create a community that combines movement-based analysis with the game of golf to encourage all ages that improving your golf game is possible. As we all know, golf is a complex sport that requires a specific skill set. Not only is the game one of the more mentally challenging sports of our age, it can also take a toll physically on our bodies.

The human body is fascinating to me, one of the main reasons I became a physical therapist. With all the intricate details combining to work together, our bodies were designed to move. The more we move (pain-free), the better we feel. Problems arise when we try to move into an area of dysfunction, which can eventually lead to an injury. That is where a physical therapist, like myself, can help. As movement experts of the medical field, physical therapists can find the driving dysfunction causing pain during your golf game.

Combining my knowledge as a physical therapist and my passion for the sport of golf, I offer you my expertise in both fields to create an ideal environment for your golf game. Whether you are in pain or not, it is important to pinpoint your current movement patterns that may lead to dysfunction in your golf swing down the road. Even losing 5, 10, 15 yards on your drive may be due to a dysfunction in your movement patterns. Let me help you. Mark Twain once said, “Golf is a good walk spoiled.” While I cannot guarantee your next 18-round won’t be blurred with profanities, I can give you advice and treatments to help keep you pain free and enjoying the game you love. I designed this site with two primary purposes in mind.

First, despite all the plethora of knowledge on how to putt, practice drills on how to swing, and improving your mental game, there is limited information about how to properly train your body for golf. Granted, research has greatly increased in recent years and more information keeps coming out, but the question remains how to best get this information out to the general public? That is where I come in. I promise to give you the most current evidence-based research and knowledge necessary to improve your golf game and keep you moving functionally. From manual therapy to individualized exercise, I will be your go-to movement specialist for golf.

Secondly, I have met too many patients that think pain and soreness is a normal part of golf. Let me tell you, pain is never normal. Golf, like any other sport, is meant to be enjoyed pain-free. Whether you are playing 9, 18, or 72 holes, pain should never be experienced by the golfer. I cannot stress that enough. Our bodies were designed to move and move often. Golf is one of those avenues that can give us the exercise our bodies need to keep us healthy and happy.

Finally, let me end by saying how excited I am to bring you all this information in a friendly and informative way. My goal is to help you as much as possible and to be your go to source for all things golf. Together, we can make this game more enjoyable and even help you gain some bragging rights for your friends.
